Peter Gleick, the scientist who was responsible for acquiring and releasing information on the Heartland Institude's plan to discredit climate change science has requested a short leave of absence from his duties as President of Pacific Institute while the Institute investigates his part as a whistle blower.

There is parallel pressure being put on Heartland to come clean about its mission and its funding – specifically the influence exerted by the single anonymous donor who has given it $14m.

Heartland is one of the loudest voices denying man-made global warming, hosting the largest international scientific conference of skeptics on climate change.

We will also pursue additional support from the Charles G. Koch Foundation. They returned as a Heartland donor in 2011 with a contribution of $200,000. We expect to push up their level of support in 2012 and gain access to their network of philanthropists, if our focus continues to align with their interests. Other contributions will be pursued for this work, especially from corporations whose interests are threatened by climate policies.”The focus must be kept on Heartland and their deception in trying to discredit the science of climate change.
